here comes one helluva long entry.
lemme just put this out right now- i won't mind if you skip paragraphs and skim here and there because this entry is so. darn. long.
so, the first week of school is oh-oh-over
i'm not sure you want to know the gory, (well maybe not. just boring) details
and i'm not really sure i want to give you all this colorless info
but i think i probably will.
and now i'm wondering why i'm giving you a direct insight to my strange thought processes
shut up va, its time to shut up now.
so, the first week of school is oh-so-over
okay. first up
i only have school on tuesdays, thursdays (1ish to 5ish) and fridays (8ish to 2ish)
which is kinda cool i guess but weird cos most people don't have school on friday
well i do
so, um, there.
i take:
- eng 113 - english
- psy 101 - psychology
- hmd 101 - introduction to hospitality
- com 101 - public speaking (zzz. zzcary zzzhit)
- hmd 225 - computer stuff for hospitality. or something
which is kinda the class for people where their first language isn't english
was pretty bummed at first
ZZZZZZZZ!
but got there, and it was a teensy little class.
but full of internationals indeed :)
everyone's so tremendously pleasant and friendly, including the teacher
it's like a huge step back, and we're all taking lessons in kindergarten again
where she asks us repeatedly if we know what she's saying and tells us jokes about her age and her video-poker playing husband.
fab.
plenty of laughs in this class, i think it's my fave so far
a new friend in this class called rin (originially yumiko but she'd rather rin),
we take two classes together and
we've been having all our meals together at the commons every day and well i think its so very marvy :)
rin!
am not going to continue elaborating about my lessons
i might fall asleep blogging about em.
the asian community is humongous,
and everyone is so accepting and affable
and now, whenever we see each other at the commons? we just sit down and talk about stuff in a myriad of languages including: english, mandarin, cantonese, japanese, korean
let's look at the last coupla days in recap.
22 jan 05'
after lessons, this great girl called helen from macau invited me to join her and her friends cos they were gonna get cell phones or something
well.
all i can say is that it was a looong day and everyone was wonderful but we WALKED to target and took a BUS to chinatown.
and drank warm bubble tea! i kinda like it.
haha, well it was an experience to say the least.
dinner at the commons with everyone
split into two booths and for the first time since i got here i genuinely laughed heartily
tingting (taiwanese) and helen were teaching yumiko (another japanese girl) random chinese phrases like "du zi bi xiong bu da"
which translates to "stomach's bigger than boobs"
random,
but it was hilarious
the only thing that topped that was teaching mansaku (jap guy. AUDE I TAKE PHOTO FOR YOU. I THINK HE'S YOUR TYPE) how to say fuck in hokkien and cantonese.
to see him say it with a grin plasteerd on his face,
looking so proud of himself?
that was.. a moment.

headed to dayton (which is another dorm) - tingting's room
took the study table from the study room and four chairs
and
started
..
MAHJONG.
i shit you not.
haha, fun stuff. watching the koreans say pong! with such gusto and looking so overjoyed whenever they won a game was incredible.
10 girls crammed in a room, each with an opinion and laughing at the mahjong terminology..
haha well yeah.
23 jan 05'
had lunch with rin, jenny (from guangzhou) and kenneth (hongkong)
pretty long lunch
thought kenneth's shirt was amusing
then rin and i headed to warner building cos there was a shuttle van to target and walmart
haha,
jordan was the driver and he's rin's dorm mate
very scary driver, so insanely fast and he switches lanes like there's no tomorrow
we got there in record time though
so,
the whole day was spent walking around target greatland and super walmart
(and yes that is what they're called. cos they're even bigger than the normal targets and walmarts. haha. okay. yeah)
rin and i walked all day and before we knew it?
dinner time.
shuttle bussed back to school and i headed to her room and looked at photos of her and kevin (canadian boyfriend) for an hour
then
we
realised..
we missed dinner.
zzz.
so now we know the dining hall closes at 8PM
seriously man,
geez
so, we met again at 10 cos the dining hall opens at 10 for snacks
we had a long supper and finally got back to the room near 12.
dorm food is seriously fucking fattening
shit man.
i'm so screwed. watch out singapore, va's coming back one fat girl.
it ain't over till the fat lady sings.
the bos are much, much, much more than friends.
